Beginning my career all over again while setting down roots, I got to work and learned a valuable lesson along the way.
I was starting all over from the ground up, again. When moving to Naples in 2012 to be closer to family, my husband and I left behind the life we had built in Orlando. However, I did not focus on the enormity of starting over and just got to work.
I am someone who likes to take initiative in new environments and enjoy challenges. Growing up in Memphis, TN, we came from a modest background. We just had each other. I started working at age 14 to afford the opportunities I wanted. Dedication and hard work are wired into me.
In Memphis, St. Jude’s Research Hospital is an essential part of local life, and raising money for research is a tradition that I have taken part in for many years. Going after opportunity is a core part of who I am.
After working multiple jobs to pay my way through college while earning my Psychology degree, I moved to Orlando with my husband (who I was dating at the time). In the middle of the recession in 2008, no one was hiring. I had to figure out a way to pay my rent in this new city. After learning about real estate, I leaned into it and got my license.
Though it was a challenging time, I built my career in real estate and a life for myself in Orlando. Moving to Naples was another big transition. However, I am so glad I did it. As a mother of two, I can’t imagine a better place to raise my girls.
Once we arrived here, I did what I do best and got back to work. I continued building my real estate business while working in medical sales to help support my family. In 2016, I became a full-time REALTOR® again. I love what I do, hearing people’s stories and helping them turn the page to the next chapter. It has been an added bonus to share my drive and passion with my daughters as they grow older and watch my business grow. My husband, Robert, has been supportive of my business from the start, and I’m most proud of our family and the life we have all built here together.
In 2019, I opened my brokerage, Anchor Real Estate Brokers, and began my team. Like many paths in my life, it developed out of necessity to keep moving forward. There will always be forks in the road, but it took me years to realize that there is no one right path to take. When I was younger and just getting started, I got caught up in all the boxes I thought I had to check. Eventually, I threw those lists out the window and accepted that we all have our own unique paths to travel. I stay present, enjoy the journey and continue working hard.
My sister, Carla, joined my team in 2021 as a licensed agent, and our cousin, Kyler, is a team member as well. We bring a family approach to our boutique brokerage. I still run as a St. Jude Hero in half marathons around the country and have been doing so since 2014. Whenever I’m not working, I enjoy boating, traveling, and attending my daughters’ sporting events or cheering on the Chicago Cubs.
My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is learning more about my clients and building lifelong friendships.
We do things very differently at Anchor Real Estate Brokers. With a diverse team and family-driven approach, we offer a variety of perspectives to our clients while considering every available option. Through putting our focus on relationships rather than properties, we have grown a vast professional network of trusted vendors, agents and friends.
